Well it looks like the
weather finally broke for us here in the South East and it's
starting to cool off. After more than a month of 90 degree
plus I can say it's a welcome relief.
I've gotten a few e-mail requests lately asking if we had any Chinese
recipes on the site. I went back and reviewed the collection and
you know, I realized that the only recipe was one for P.F.
Chang's Lettuce Wraps from the Copy
Cat Cookbook collection!
So I went to our collection of recipe cards and cookbooks and here
they are, a few of our favorite Chinese recipes.
One of my favorite things about Chinese cooking is that it is often
fast and healthy and can feed a rather large family easily. I hope
you enjoy these recipes as much as we do!
For an appetizer we like lettuce
bundles. We often make these for a light dinner as well.
They make a great entertaining appetizer for any party. While
the recipe calls for ground pork, you can substitute beef turkey
as well.
We also love Crab
Rangoons and often make them just for snacking on. They
make and excellent appetizer or side for spicy Chinese meals.
***Tip: While you can prepare a Chinese meal in any large saute
or fry pan, we recommend that you use a wok. Using a wok is much
easier and faster than most people realize. Our favorite is the Joyce
Chen 14-in. Carbon Steel Flat Bottom Wok
For those who enjoy Szechuan style Chinese, (hot and spicy)
We've got Spicy
hot beef and broccoli. This quick stir fry has a nice heat
to it. For those who would rather not have spicy, substitute
teriyakki for the spicy stir fry sauce.
This meal is best prepared in a wok for the best flavor and texture.
For Dessert, even though this isn't a Chinese recipe, Chocolate
covered bananas are one of our favorite treats and the
best thing about it is that its healthy for you too!
Don't forget that Halloween is fast approaching. We will be
coming out with our Halloween recipe newsletter sometime in
October. For all your costume and decoration needs we recommend CostumeCity.Com .
they have the largest selection of Halloween costumes you can
find anywhere at very affordable prices.
That's it for this week.
